Tiger Shark

Galeocerdo cuvier

Tiger sharks are among the largest predatory sharks in tropical waters, reaching five metres or more, and long considered difficult to see reliably. That changed with the development of dedicated sites: Tiger Beach in the Bahamas is the classic baited encounter, and Fuvahmulah in the southern Maldives has emerged as the premier natural-behaviour destination, with tigers drawn to a fish-cleaning harbour and regularly seen on nearby reef dives. Aliwal Shoal in South Africa and Beqa Lagoon in Fiji round out the main options.
