Wobbegongs are a family of benthic, carpet-patterned sharks that spend their days motionless on reefs and ambush small fish at night. Their spotted, fringed appearance makes them look more like a piece of reef than a shark. They are generally docile but bites do happen when divers accidentally place a hand on one, so look before you grip anything on the bottom.
